Happy Birthday Jonathan!

Jonathan was born today!
He is 20.5 inches long and weighs 8.2 pounds.

I wanted to be able to share a picture of a newborn with you. This is what I imagine Jonathan to look like <3

Thank you for following along with him as he made his journey to birth.  Who knows what wonders he will bring to this life.  For Jonathan, One adventure has ended and another has begun.  Many people would say "welcome to life, Jonathan" but Jonathan has been alive for 9 months. He is only in a new stage of life.

40 weeks!

Jonathan is due any day now! He has spend 40 weeks in his mother and she decided to choose life. Jonathan is 20 inches long and he weighs about 8 pounds. He has a plump, healthy body. He is head down in his mother's pelvis and is awaiting his birth! Only 4% of babies are born on their due date and Jonathan is not one of that 4%.

34 weeks old!

Jonathan is 34 weeks old! he is now about 17 inches and weighs about 4 1/2 pounds! AND he's still growing and maturing! At this stage in his development, his eyes are wide open and if he saw light his pupils would contract. How cool is that!? His head is covered in hair, brown like his mother. His fingernails have reached the tips of his fingers and his toe nails almost reach the ends of his toes.

31 weeks old!

I apologize that I have not given many updates on Jonathan lately. It is harder to find reliable sources of what he is doing in the womb.

Jonathan is now about 13 inches long and weighs about 3 pounds. He will still gain 3 to 5 (or more) pounds. Jonathan's brain is developing faster than ever! Connections between individual nerve cells are growing and he can now perceive info from all 5 senses!

Jonathan spends his days making faces, hiccuping, swallowing, breathing, pedaling his little hands and feet along his mother's uterine wall, and even sucking on his thumb. (Some babies suck their thumb so much while they are in the womb that they're born with a callus on their thumb!)

28 weeks old!

Jonathan is 28 weeks old! He is about 15 inches long and weighs 2 and a half pounds! If Jonathan were born premature now, he would be able to (with the help of intensive care) breath air. His brain is developed enough to coordinate rhythmic breathing and regulate body temperature. As he continues to gain weight, the skin becomes less wrinkled and more smooth.

26 weeks!

Jonathan now weighs almost 2 pounds and he can react to sounds outside his mother's body. His eyes can now respond to light and the permanent teeth buds are apparent in the gums. His eyelashes and eyebrows are well-formed and the hair on Jonathan's head is growing longer.

24 weeks!

Jonathan now weighs about 1 1/2 pounds! He also inhales amniotic fluid in preparation for breathing. Jonathan's ear has developed enough that he can recognize his mother's voice, breathing and heart beat. About a week ago, Jonathan started having rapid eye movements. This is associated with dreaming. Some Babies born at Jonathan's stage of development are able to survive. :)

22 weeks!

Jonathan has made it to 22 weeks old! :) Jonathan now weighs about a pound. He can also hear conversations more clearly than before. When his mom talks, reads, or sings he will hear her. Jonathan's eyelids and eyebrows are fully developed and his fingernails have grown to the end of his fingers.

22 weeks

Lord, please protect Jonathan and all the other children in danger of abortion. Be with their parents and help them to see the beautiful child You have blessed them with.

20 weeks!

Jonathan is now about 10 inches long from head to heel and weighs 11oz. His mom can feel him move too! :) Jonathan also has a unique sleeping pattern and even has a favorite sleeping position. Jonathan's time in his mother's womb is about half over and his mom is beginning to "show."

18 weeks

Today Jonathan is 17 weeks old, but my information i use does not have a 17 week and I will be out of town, so I am posting Jonathan's 18th week today.


Jonathan has made it to 18 weeks! In these past two weeks he has almost doubled in weight to 7 ounces! His skeleton is hardening and calcifying and is visible on ultra sound. his reflexes, such as blinking and frowning, are now developed. Jonathan also has his own unique fingerprints and toe prints! Some studies show that at 18 weeks, Jonathan would be able to feel pain.

Lord, please protect Jonathan and all the other children in danger of abortion. Thank you, Jesus, for protecting them and being with them. Stay with their mothers and fathers and help them to see the beautiful child you have blessed them with. Amen.

16 weeks! :)

Thank you for your prayers! :)

Jonathan has made it to his 16th week of life! His heart now beats between 110 and 180 times per minute and pumps about 25 quarts of blood everyday. You can see that he is a boy on the ultrasound. He is almost 5 inches long and he weights close to 4 ounces (1/4th pound). Jonathan can also coordinate his movements, although, his mother most likely can't feel them yet.

Thank you, Lord, for protecting Jonathan. Please keep him and all the other children in danger of abortion safe. Help their parents to see the beautiful and handsome children you have blessed them with.

15 weeks!

Jonathan now weighs about 70 g (about 0.15 lb)! He frequently get hiccups and his legs are now longer than his arms. Jonathan also now has vocal chords formed :)

14 Weeks!

Can you believe how much Jonathan has grown since conception!? It's been 14 weeks since then and he is now 3 1/2 inches long! He is in his second trimester! He is coordinated enough to suck his thumb! You can now see the beginnings of fingernails and toenails.


Lord Jesus, please protect Jonathan and all the other children in danger of abortion. Be with their parents and help them to see their beautiful child you have blessed them with.

13 weeks!

Jonathan now has fingerprints! His veins and organs are also now clearly visible through his thin skin. His body is starting to catch up with his head, so that he will be more normally proportioned and he is about 3 inches long!

12 weeks!

Jonathan now can respond to skin stimulants and he can also swallow. He is between 2 inches and 3 inches in length and he weighs about 2 ounces!

Lord Jesus, please take care of Jonathan and all the other children in danger of abortion. Be with their mother and father and help them to see the beautiful child you have given them. We ask this in Jesus Name. Amen.

11 weeks!

Jonathan now has all of his major organ systems and is distinctly recognizable as a human being. He is about 2 inches long and can yawn and suck his thumb. His eye lids are fully formed now. His intestines are developing and the kidneys begin to produce urine. During the next several weeks Jonathan's body will grow rapidly, increasing in weight 30 times and tripling in length in the next to months!



Lord Jesus, Please protect Jonathan and all the other children in danger of abortion. Be with their parents and give them strength and courage. Help them to see this beautiful child You have blessed them with. We ask this in Your Name. Amen

10 weeks!

Each minute Jonathan's rapidly growing brain produces almost 250,000 new neurons. And now, for the first time, his brain can move his muscles on purpose! His arms and legs are now clearly seen and his fingers and toes are lengthened and separated. Have you ever seen a pin with little baby feet on it? That pin is of a 10 week old baby!

He is also now producing the male hormone, testosterone. Here comes that y chromosome!

9 weeks! :)

Jonathan is now 9 weeks old and he has grown so much! In an ultra sound you can now tell that he is a boy. and if he is prodded his eyes and hands close and his muscular movements have begun. He is 3/4 of an inch big and he weighs about an 1/8th of an ounce. The bones in his arms and legs are beginning to harden. 

 
Lord Jesus, please protect Jonathan and all the other children in danger of abortion. At this stage of his life he is a lot of danger. Please be with his mother and father and help them to be brave and to stay strong. Help them to know that Jonathan is a child of God and that he is NOT a clump of cells, but that he is their child. We love you Lord. We ask this in your name, Amen.

8 weeks!

Jonathan has grown a lot since he was conceived. He has now started to move in spontaneous movements. Over the next four weeks he will start hiccuping, frowning, squinting, furrowing the brow, and sucking. He is also now well proportioned and about the size of a thumb. All his organs are present, but immature. the skull, elbows, and knees are forming!

Lord Jesus, please keep Jonathan safe and all the other children in danger of abortion free from harm. Please take care of their mothers and give them strength. Please be with the fathers, help them to stay strong and support their child and the mother of their child. We love you, Lord. We know that with You all things are possible. Please, help us to turn hearts to you. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your son, Amen.

7 weeks!

Jonathan has been alive 7 weeks and now buds of his milk teeth appear and 99% of his muscles are present! His brain activity can now be detected! He is now about the size of a blueberry and this may seem small, but he is 10,000 times larger than he was at conception and twice as big as he was a week ago!

And, Jesus, please take care of the fathers and help them to support their child and the mother of their child. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen."

He's made it to 6 weeks!

Jonathan is now 6 weeks old and he now has little fingers and toes that have begun to develop. and his brain is divided into 3 parts for emotion and language, hearing, and seeing.

5 weeks old! :)

Jonathan has made it to five weeks! He has little arms and legs and a face with a mouth and nose! His blood is now separate from his mother's. Our little guy is growing quickly!

4 weeks old! :)

Jonathan is now 4 weeks old and his heart has begun to beat!
Also, his eyes, ears, and lungs have begun to form! :)

3 weeks!

Jonathan's blood vessels and sex cells form. He is now officially a boy! The foundation for his brain, spinal cord, and nervous system are now laid! Probably about now, his mother knows she is pregnant.

Jonathan's 2nd Week of Life

Jonathan attaches and burrows himself securely into the wall of his mother's womb. He is smaller than a grain of sugar at this point in his life! During these first nine months he will have the more growth and change occur than at any other time in his life.

Jonathan's First Day of Life

At the moment of conception (When the sperm and the egg are joined together) a beautiful thing happened! Jonathan became a human being and all his inherited features are now determined! Welcome to life, Jonathan!

Who's Jonathan???

You're probably all thinking "Who's Jonathan?" and "Why is there a blog about him?" Well, wonder no longer because I will tell you!

The other day, I got on my e-mail and my friend had sent me a link to a website: Spiritual Adoption (click on the link to go to the website)

On this website, it says that Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen encouraged people to spiritually adopt an unborn baby to help stop the anit-life push around the world. This is done by praying that one particular unborn child's life be spared from abortion.

Here is the prayer from the website:

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of [baby’s name] the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”
- Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

When I saw this website, I decided immediately that I wanted to spiritually adopt an unborn child and my boyfriend agree to do it with me.

We chose the name Jonathan because it means "God given" which fits perfectly since every child is a gift from God.

During the spiritual adoption, we are to pray for our spiritual child everyday for the nine months of pregnancy. When this program is done in a school, the participants are given information about their child and about it's development and I decided that I would share Jonathan's story and his development. That is why there is a blog for him. I will post how he is doing and what stages of development he is at each step of the way.

I encourage you to spiritually adopt an unborn child. Together we can end abortion!
